My kids did a great thing!

This has nothing to do with cooking....but wanted to share it with you all anyway.

For the holidays my in law's gave each of my kids money to donate to an organization of their choice. Is that not a great idea?  After talking with the girls about what they would like to do with the money they decided they wanted to help animals...this just made my heart melt.

For those of you who don't know me very well. I have a special place in my heart for animals.  I do some volunteer work for a few different rescue organizations, used to work in an animal hospital and have a few  rescued animals of my own.

Here are some of my babies I rescued.

This is Molly.  She has a brain disability.

This is Anna...the queen of the house!
She was my first rescue!

This is Saint,  the furry love of my life.
He was rescued from Louisiana and was 24 hours from being put down....can you imagine?

This is George....what a life he has now!

George and Saint LOVE to lie in the sun together!

There is the queen, Anna again...God how I love her!

Anyway, yesterday we took that money and went to Costco (which is a discount warehouse in our area) and purchased some animal supplies.  We bought a 50 pound bag of dog food, 30 pound bag of cat food, 50 pound bag of cat litter, 1 large supply of raw hides and another large supply of pigs ears.  My husband and I matched the amount my in law's gave the kids so we could give even more!

We loaded up the truck and went to The Little Shelter in Huntington NY.  This shelter rescues animals from all over the United States.  They not only rescue healthy animals but they also take in animals with special needs that might not be adoptable.  They have a sanctuary upstate NY where those that are not adoptable go.
Here is the link to their site....Check it out!

Anyway, when we got their we brought the supplies in and the girls got to see one of the dogs that just got adopted.  Yesterday was a great day and it brought tears to my eyes to think that my girls have compassion for animals and wanted to share this money with them.

Here are two pictures of them at the shelter!!!!

Look at how proud they are...sniff, sniff!

This is a boxer mix they got to meet, he will be going to his forever home today.
He was in a high kill shelter in Virginia and was supposed to be put down the day he was rescued!

Adopt a Rescue Animal and Save A Life!!!!
